Left social media. Again.

So, I decided to finally drop social media, including my twtxt file and subdomain. Why? Well, a few reasons.

First of all, I do like the idea behind twtxt. I also deeply appreciate what the community has been doing with the…protocol? System? Whatever you want to call it, they’ve improved it quite a bit without breaking backward compatibility. And the [yarn.social] pods make things so easy for users to join.

However, social media has drawn me down so much, and I just can’t justify the strain it puts on me. I’ve stopped paying attention to the Fediverse as well, but twtxt, even with it’s much smaller userbase and simple system, is just a bit too much for my mental health. I’m just not really compatible with social media anymore.

Too much politics. Too many people from Twitter trying to enforce their old Twitter habits and culture on the Fediverse. Hardly any real positivity to be found anywhere. I get more enjoyment out of gopherspace, newsgroups, and the few forums I follow, so social media just isn’t worth it for me.
